Special Services Department
The Child Study Team is a group of professionals that are involved in the identification, evaluation, and classification of students in the school district that might have some special needs. Students are referred to the Team in several ways including by parent referral (in writing), teacher referral, or the Intervention and Referral Services Committee (I&RS). Once a student is referred, a member of the Child Study Team will contact you within 20 calendar days to set up the first meeting with the team. Parents are valuable members of the Child Study Team and you will be invited and encouraged to participate in every meeting that is held in regards to your child. Your participation and input will contribute to every step of the testing and programming process. The Child Study Team is an important resource for you as well if you have any concerns or questions regarding your child's educational performance, cognitive ability, behavior, emotional state, or social skills. The team members are experts in their field and all information is handled in a confidential and private matter.
