Dr. James Pedersen received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education and English at New Jersey City University in 1996. He holds two Masters Degrees from New Jersey City University in Special Education and Educational Leadership and has recently completed his doctoral work at Seton Hall University in Educational Administration. Dr. Pedersen is a former high school English teacher and continues to teach as an adjunct professor for Felician College. In addition to his teaching background, Dr. Pedersen also served as a Disciplinarian and Assistant Principal in his former district.
He adds, “My time as an administrator has been one of the most challenging and rewarding things in my life. I have had the opportunity to cooperatively work with many teachers, students, parents, fellow administrators, community members and other stakeholders to create some great programs that promote academic achievement and foster success. When everyone agrees that the primary purpose of every great school is teaching and learning then any goal can be accomplished. I feel that when we keep students at the center of every decision that impacts the high school and use that as a guiding principle, we can continue to do great things in South Plainfield.”
