About the Coach:
Coach Larsen has been coaching cheerleading at South Plainfield High School since Fall of 1991. She began her journey as the JV Coach assisting Ellen Decker-Lorys who was the Varsity coach. She coached both Fall & Winter Cheer as the JV coach for at least 6 years. Coach Larsen stepped into the role as Head Coach and began a new journey.
Coach Larsen coached the Fall & Winter season for several years. She began the Competition Cheerleading program from ground up in 1998. The Competition program was something she wanted to explore for a very long time. She wanted to provide the young ladies & gentlemen the experience to compete for themselves. In 2001 the Competition Team came home National Champions from the Contest of Champions in Walt Disney World, Florida. This team was National Champions in the Small Co-Ed Division.
Coach Larsen was asked to remain as the Varsity Winter Cheer coach for a while. This year Coach Larsen came back to the Competition team which is her true love. This upcoming year she will continue her journey as Head Coach for Fall & Head Coach for Competition.

This years Competition Team was a special group of girls. This season came with a lot of sweat, tears & hard work. In the end it all paid off. We placed higher then we ever have in states and took a 1st place trophy home.
This hasn't been done in years. These ladies have the drive and are hungry like the Eye of The TIGER. The journey that lies a head for them is going to be one that they will never forget. So SPHS Cheerleading get ready because the journey has just begun. The Spark is back.
