Hour of Code

Hour of Code

The week of December 3 through 7 is Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek). This is an annual program dedicated to inspiring students to take an interest in computer programming. The South Plainfield Public School District proudly participates in the “Hour of Code” as a part of CSEdWeek. Throughout the course of the week, students across the district have the opportunity to learn and write code in their technology classes.

The “Hour of Code” is a nationwide initiative by CSEdWeek and Code.org to introduce computer programming to over 100 million students worldwide and encourage them to learn programming. Not only do these activities promote close reading, problem solving and logic, but they also provide students practice with the drag and drop skills necessary for the PARCC Assessment.

We encourage you to visit the following links and explore computer programming with your children/students throughout the course of the year.
