Graduation Requirements

Graduation Requirements:  Starting with this year’s graduating senior class (Class of 2016), the High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) will no longer be used as a graduation requirement.  However, for this year’s senior class and for the next few years, the State has provided several options to satisfy the State requirement of demonstrating proficiency in English Language Arts and Math.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding these requirements, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school counselor to discuss.

 A.    Proficiency through PARCC: 

 a.      ELA: Proficiency can be demonstrated by earning a passing score on the PARCC English Language Arts Assessment in either Grade 9, Grade 10, or Grade 11; and

                    b.     Math: Proficiency can be demonstrated by earning a passing score on the PARCC Algebra 1, Geometry, or                     Algebra 2 Assessment; 
OR

 B.    Proficiency through Substitute Assessment:

 a.      Proficiency can be demonstrated by earning a passing score on any of the substitute assessments listed below;

OR
 
C.    Proficiency through Portfolio Appeal Process:
                  a.      For students who do not demonstrate proficiency through the PARCC or Substitute Assessments, the District                   may submit a portfolio of student work to the NJDOE for a determination of proficiency by the State.
